SHARING OUT LOUD
Midlife hit, the filter broke, and the truth started swinging. From menopause to alcoholism and sobriety, to identity and the mess we all pretend we’re not drowning in — she’s finally saying everything women were taught to swallow. And the guests? Bold, brilliant, and absolutely ready to say the quiet parts out loud.
Imagine what beautiful things could happen if we all chose to be vulnerable. If we all decided to be BRAVE, to start SHARING our personal stories OUT LOUD, because we knew it could help someone else who is going through the same thing.

SHARING OUT LOUD
Mummy does not need wine! The constant fight against mommy drinking culture -- with Alisha of the Podcast, Black and Sober.
Thank you, Alisha, for sharing space with me, and for trusting me with your story. I have found my new sister in sobriety🥰.
Alisha is part of a married team from West London (Ricci is her husband) navigating their journey through sobriety. On their Podcast, Black and Sober, they and their guests, share their powerful stories of transformation and newfound freedom from alcohol.
Alisha and I talked about EVERYTHING! Mommy wine culture, kids with ADHD, adults with ADHD, AND how drinking is often an outlet for those with learning disabilities both in early childhood as well as into adulthood. AND how Alisha’s son having ADHD played a role in her drinking consumption (mum needed an outlet).
Alisha so kindly opened up about her father's struggles with alcoholism and how still, to this day, there is a "brush it under the rug" mentality in the black community -- not only with drinking but with any sort of mental health issues.
In her late teens and 20s, Alisha's experience with drinking wasn't unlike that of any other young woman, everyone was doing it and over-doing it, but that was normalized. Even in motherhood, she didn't think twice about it because don't all moms need an outlet? Don't all moms DESERVE to have a drink and relax?! And then her third son was born and the wake-up call began...
In this podcast, Alisha continues her ongoing reflection on how sobriety has positively impacted her and her husband's lives, both in their married relationship and their roles as parents to their children. The joy they have discovered in living alcohol-free is undeniable and that is why they are so passionate about their "Black and Sober" podcast. Their goal is to inspire others and create a space of hope, peace, and empowerment for those seeking a sober lifestyle.
Follow them everywhere @blacksoberpod
